Built to the same specs as a Martin 0-18 with 12 frets to the body. Same body size, same bracing pattern.
The back and sides are Sinker Mahogany. Sinker Mahogany is old growth wood that was logged by the British 150-200 years ago in what is now Belize. I've made a dozen or so instruments with Sinker Mahogany and love the way it sounds.
The top is premium, sonically graded Sitka Spruce for Pacific Rim Tonewoods. Pacific Rim Tonewoods sustainably harvests Spruce for their tops and tests them for their sonic properties. Each top comes with a report on its density, stiffness and Q-rating (how well sound travels through the wood). For this instrument, I chose a top with the highest Q-rating available.
The combination of the Sinker Mahogany and the high-Q-rated top makes for a very lively, responsive instrument with warm, rich lows and sparkling highs.
