Built to the same specs as a Martin 0-28 with 12 frets to the body. Same body size, same bracing pattern.
The back and sides are (CITES approved) Madagascar Rosewood. Many luthiers and players consider this to be the closest substitute to Brazilian Rosewood. To my ear, it is very similar but is a bit more subtle in its midrange presence. Overall, it is very warm and rich.
The top is premium, sonically graded Sitka Spruce for Pacific Rim Tonewoods. Pacific Rim Tonewoods sustainably harvests Spruce for their tops and tests them for their sonic properties. Each top comes with a report on its density, stiffness and Q-rating (how well sound travels through the wood). For this instrument, I chose a top with the highest Q-rating available.
The combination of the Madagascar Rosewood and the high-Q-rated top makes for a very warm, rich instrument.
